Here goes nothing

The first time to anything is always a challenge. Its a blustering bag of nervousness, protruding ‘what-if’s’, unwarranted fears and to make matters worse there’s the infamous case of ‘should I, or shouldn’t I’ that just cushions itself on top of an already piled layer of emotions.

New endeavors have that effect. Age is irrespective. A 6 year old child’s first day at school is as nerve-wrecking as is a prospective job interview for a long-pronounced adult. First times are like that. They force themselves into an outward calm but inside they’re just waiting for an eruption.

So here’s to a new beginning. A fresh start. In the hope that my writing may inspire someone. Somewhere. Someday. If all else fails, there’s always my trampoline to fall back on.

Heart shaped tarts

Image

Silent and deep, profound thoughts
Beholds the vision of elusive sorts

Legends of slayers and knights in armor
Fairy tales depicting unparalleled glamour

Separate chambers, sacred domains
Threads of the past somehow remains

Flashes of darkness amidst the light
Spheres of interest within sight

Worshipers prostrate in profession of their love
To the divine being, up above

Beyond the earth and the skies between
Lies a world unlike any that has ever been seen

A city of dreams, where aspirations take flight
One of harmony, splendor and delight

Deep within, my inner core
Lies a world of which, I most simply adore

Fire breathing dragons – come what may,
I’d soothe them down and request their stay

For they too, beneath their  cover
Possess a heart which yearns a lover

Amidst the darkness, enshrouded by night
Lies an optimistic flaming light

Torches left to guide the way
As passerby’s, in dismay
Watch the seeds scattered by wind
Glorify love for all that he brings

The knave of hearts gazed in awe
As the lady from whom, he had once before

Sneakily snatched a tray of tarts
Freshly baked with jam filled hearts

Ran across the golden meadows
Hand in hand with darting shadows

Hearts of will, smiles endowed
Eyes that spoke, through the crowd
And there and then he saw it all
The joy of those, that dared to fall.

We forget, it seems

We forget, it seems
That all does not last.
The unforgiving memories
Of a tarnished past

Dwell within us,
Holding us back.
Enthusiasm and commitment we somehow lack

We forget, it seems
That God is great
And that without a purpose
He does not create

For when we look ahead
We expect a thorn-less path
One without obstacles
Or the ache that comes with heart

We forget, it seems
That perfection is in vain
And that this wordly life
holds no significant gain

And yet, we pursue
In futile attempt
Despite the emptiness within,
A soul – unkempt.

We forget, it seems
That there is so much more
Than the ongoing sufferings Of a blood filled war

The desire within
To cherish and nurture
Is lost with the pursuit
Of achievement and pleasure.

We forget, it seems
That the freedom of thought
Is one of which
cannot simply be bought.

We’re stuck in this thought
This undivided notion
That being different
Requires untold devotion

We forget, it seems
That our thumb prints tell
Of individuality, of originality
Of a soul we cannot sell

We fight for freedom
For the stolen right
To be, to say, to do relentless and forthright

We forget, it seems
That although tough
This struggle, is ensuring
A diamond from the rough.

Without which,
There wouldn’t be
Any change, or makings
Of a better me.
